Organic Blenders, 2021

For this project, I was inspired by organic forms and did some research within photography and nature to find organic forms that would help define and/or inspire the forms I would end up making.

This was a project was done in a semster-long course that focused on contemporary product design. The two main programs utilized in this course were SolidWorks and KeyShot. SolidWorks was used for creating the CAD renders and KeyShot was used for creating the texture, color, and different surfaces.

In theory, all these designs have the necessary components to function properly, however, since these are more conceptual and utilize many complex CAD techniques and features, which can be seen below in the split view, if these were to ever be manufactured, they’d very likely be very expensive and/or act more sculptural.

I created these blenders in a set of four that would allow the viewer to see how these could similarly stand alone separately and/or work together as a collective albeit being different yet similar in design—which can be attibuted to the overall organic feel in all of them.

I also decided to keep a more muted color pallete on these blenders to further create an emphasis on the forms themselves. In doing so, I also utilized a grainy/concrete texture for the base of the blender which also conveys the idea of organic-ness and plays into the more sculptural aspect of it—additionally with a frosted glass blender jar.
